AUGUST TRIVIA
August is the 8th month of the
Gregorian calendar. Astrologically, this
month begins with the sun in the sign of Leo and ends in the sign of Virgo.
Julius Caesar named the month after his grandnephew, Augustus in 8 BC.
August originally had 29 days however,
it was lengthened to 31 days in
45 BC to reflect the same number as July. This was to prevent anyone from
claiming that Emperor Augustus was saddled with an inferior month.
The extra day was taken from the month of February.
