The following info is dated August 4, 2006 and released by the
U. S. Department of Labor.

THE EMPLOYMENT SITUATION: JULY 2006

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 113,000 in July,
and the unemployment rate rose to 4.8 percent, the Bureau of Labor
Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. Job gains
occurred in several service- providing industries, including professional
and business services, health care, and food services. Employment also rose
in mining. Average hourly earnings rose by 7 cents, or 0.4 percent, in July.

Unemployment (Household Survey Data)

The number of unemployed persons edged up to 7.2 million in July,
and the unemployment rate rose to 4.8 percent. A year earlier, the
number of unemployed persons was 7.5 million and the jobless rate was
5.0 percent.



According to the Bureau of Labor, the country's average wage in
2002 was $36,764.00



2010 NOTE:

Government employment rose by 390,000 in May, 2010.
The Federal government hired 411,000 temporary workers for
Census 2010, bringing total temporary census staffing during
the payroll survey reference period to 564,000. Employment
in state government excluding education decreased by 13,000.




The average life expectancy in the United States in 2006, is 77.6 years.
